Term papers require citations, do yourself a favor and get this right of the bat.
Chances are that during your college work there will be times that you are working on more then one paper simulaneousely, over a number of days or even weeks. This extension will allow easy access to this, working group of documents.

What you call the APA version 6 template is actually Turabian style (morally equivalent to Chicago Manual of Style).

Open office is much more convenient as for me. Another good point about it - it's totally free.
